Ponta

Located among the hills of the traditional Cirò Doc area, this vineyard is where the history of our company began.

Estate

The Ponta estate lies mostly on the edge of a hill made of limestone-clay soil. Originally dedicated to Gaglioppo and traditionally head-trained, it was later expanded to the neighbouring flat areas, with the introduction of some Greco Bianco vines.

History

The Ponta vineyards were originally planted in the 1950s by Raffaele Librandi, father of Antonio and Nicodemo and grandfather of the latest generation of the Librandi family to enter the family business. These six hectares of vineyard were Raffaele's legacy to his children. In the not-so-distant past, the estate could only be reached by wading across the nearby Lipuda torrent. We have so many memories associated with this vineyard. Many of our historic photos were taken here. This land represents the unbreakable link between the family and its farming origins.

Research

The family's passion for researching native grape varieties was born between the rows of the Ponta vineyards. Here, in 1993, we planted our first experimental field, with Magliocco, Castiglione and Pecorello vines.
